The Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa

Cross-Border Safari Register

The Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern AfricaThe Cross-Border Safari Register is a database of information about you and your fellow travellers which is stored by the club to be made available to relevant bodies should something go wrong on your cross-border trip.

The Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa offers the following service to its members whereby details of their cross-border 4x4 and off-road trips can be forwarded to the club office. By filling in the details on the form below, valuable time can be saved if a search and rescue mission has to be launched to find you, and the time saved could mean the difference between life and death - yours!

4x4 safaris and off-road trips are great fun, and it is so easy, when the excitement is building towards your departure date, to overlook the mundane and even boring chore of planning for a disaster that in all likelihood will never happen. However, it makes good sense to remember that this is Africa, where things can and do go wrong.

You owe it to your family, who rely on you to be their provider and protector, to spend a few minutes completing this register. None of the information provided by you will be used for any purpose whatsoever other than to be issued to rescuers in an emergency. The information will not appear on any web site anywhere and it will not be accessible to the public. The information will be E-mailed to the Club Secretary and placed on file, from where it can be requested by relevant bodies should the need arise.

Neither the Four Wheel Drive Club of Southern Africa, nor the Off-Road Rescue Unit are in any way bound to launch a search and rescue mission on the basis of your submission of information on this page. The intention is to create a secure, private repository of vital and accurate information should the unthinkable happen.

N.B. The Cross-Border Safari Register will only work if someone back home reports you missing so you need to set up that safety net yourself. Please read through the Security Recommendations for Cross-Border 4x4 Travel to help you to plan your trip from a safety point of view.
